About the role

Job Description:
  • Medical Technologist I - Sign On Bonus AvailableJOB DUTIES:Performs and completes all tests according to departmental procedure manuals within established turnaround times; prioritizes tasks appropriately.
  • Handles specimens according to departmental guidelines including unacceptablespecimens and specimens for transport to reference labs.
  • Records and reports testing data according to department guidelines.
  • Performs and records required quality assurance/control data, recognizes outliers and takes corrective action as necessary
  • Performs and reports proficiency tests as assigned
  • Observes and abides by all mandated safety policies in performing duties.
  • Performs instrument troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance as required and/or assigned.
  • Observes reagent and supply inventories, including expiration dates and reports re-order needs to the supervisor or person responsible for supply ordering.
  • Performs phlebotomy duties as needed.
  • Performs specimen triage duties as needed
  • Demonstrates initiative and makes good decisions in situations not covered by policies.
  • Accepts and delivers constructive criticism in a positive manner.
  • Interacts with and assists with training of students in the laboratory.
  • Performs additional duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor or Associate's degree in Clinical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution required, or comparable degree that includes equivalent class completion of the required biology and chemistry disciplines.
  • Documented successful completion of training acceptable for eligibility for certification.
  • ASCP or equivalent certification preferred but not required.
  • Professional communication and presentation skills
  • Multi-tasking, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Proficient in computer skills
  • Attention to detail and quality
  • Ability to analyze and understand information
  • Possess a strong work ethic
