Role Description:
The Senior Accountant Audit role is a full-time position based in the San Diego Metropolitan Area with a hybrid work arrangement, allowing a blend of in-office and work-from-home days. The Senior Accountant Audit is responsible for planning and performing financial audits, reviews and other special projects, including risk assessments, testing of internal controls, and substantive procedures. Daily activities include preparing work papers, reviewing account balances and transactions, identifying audit issues, and drafting clear, well-supported findings and recommendations. The role involves supervising and mentoring junior staff, coordinating engagement timelines, communicating with clients to gather information, and ensuring engagements comply with professional standards and firm policies. The Senior Accountant Audit also assists with engagement budgeting, supports the development of best practices, and contributes to continuous improvement of audit methodologies.
Qualifications:
Strong audit and assurance skills, including experience with financial statement audits, internal controls testing, and risk assessment. Proficiency in accounting principles and standards, such as U.S. GAAP and relevant auditing standards. Ability to manage multiple engagements, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a hybrid work environment. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with clients and coaching junior team members. High level of attention to detail, analytical thinking, and professional judgment. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or all four parts of CPA exam passed. Bachelor’s degree in accounting. Experience in public accounting and prior responsibility at a senior or in-charge audit level. Proficiency with accounting and audit software and strong general computer skills. Commitment to ethical standards, continuous learning, and adherence to professional guidelines. Ability to travel – some travel may be required (10-15%).
