Job Summary: Thinking Maps is expanding our team of Professional Learning Facilitators in California. We are seeking experienced K–12 educators who enjoy working with teachers and want to continue making an impact beyond their own classroom. We are especially interested in retired or recently retired educators, as well as other experienced educators whose schedules provide flexibility to facilitate professional learning throughout the school year. Professional Learning Facilitators work with Thinking Maps as independent contractors, delivering in-person and virtual professional learning for educators in schools and districts primarily across California. Facilitators accept assignments based on their availability. We are currently seeking facilitators with experience in Thinking Maps Foundations, Write from the Beginning…and Beyond, and Path to Proficiency.
Key Responsibilities: Facilitate engaging professional learning sessions for teachers, instructional leaders, and school or district teams. Support educators in implementing Thinking Maps strategies effectively in classroom and school settings. Deliver Thinking Maps professional learning with consistency, professionalism, and fidelity to program expectations. Facilitate sessions in person and virtually, depending on the assignment. Travel within California and, occasionally, to other locations as needed. Collaborate with the Thinking Maps Professional Learning team to prepare for and successfully deliver assigned sessions.
Qualifications:
  • K–12 teaching, instructional coaching, or educational leadership experience.
  • Experience using Thinking Maps with students and/or educators.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to engage and build relationships with adult learners.
  • Comfortable adapting to different school environments, audiences, and professional learning needs.
  • Availability to accept professional learning assignments during the school year.
  • Ability and willingness to travel for assignments. Preferred Experience
  • We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Thinking Maps Foundations across K–12 grade levels and content areas.
  • Write from the Beginning…and Beyond, particularly experience teaching writing in: K–1, Grades 2–3, Grades 4–6, Middle SchoolPath to Proficiency
  • Previous professional learning, coaching, or adult facilitation experience.
  • Bilingual skills.
