Energy Expert Position Tetra Tech seeks an experienced energy expert to support growth and diversification as well as project-based assignments in the electricity sector across Europe and Eurasia. You will work as part of multidisciplinary teams delivering diverse international projects, with opportunities to contribute to technical leadership, coordinate workstreams, and support team management on complex assignments. Interested candidates must be based in and eligible to work in Germany or remotely in the country of residence in Europe. This position is full-time, and hiring is contingent upon client approval. Essential Job Functions:
Support the delivery and management of a portfolio of Tetra Tech ES projects, and contribute to our diversification efforts, with a focus on Europe & Eurasia in line with the overall global growth strategy Leads work on gas sector infrastructure development, regional market integration, LNG trading and relevant infrastructure, gas hubs, gas market and regulation activities Support sector reforms by providing evidence-based recommendations grounded in financial, economic, and investment analyses of gas enterprises, infrastructure, and programs Monitor and analyze gas market developments, sector data, infrastructure opportunities, and policy changes; identify risks and recommend corrective measures Provide technical expertise to support the design, development, and implementation of gas sector reforms, including preparing reform roadmaps, action plans, and implementation strategies Consult with market operators, regulators, private sector stakeholders, and international partners to build consensus on reform priorities Review and respond to industry and government consultations, including draft laws and regulations, LNG licensing and access arrangements, and provide policy recommendations Contribute to the development, maintenance, and application of financial, economic, and investment models to assess state-owned enterprises, infrastructure projects, and reforms to support market-driven policies and frameworks for the gas sector Cooperate closely with other Tetra Tech operating units in Europe, with a view to collaborating on new opportunities and approaches to new clients Interact directly with clients under the supervision of a senior team member; work as part of a team on complex assignment projects Raise Tetra Tech ES' profile in the market through outreach and knowledge sharing on global emerging practices related to the energy transition and evolving technologies Represent Tetra Tech ES as a thought leader at conferences, webinars and on social media platforms
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree in economics, finance, business administration, engineering, oil and gas, energy, or other relevant field
- Minimum of 12 years of relevant professional experience in the energy sector including substantial experience in the natural gas sector or consulting for gas companies or institutions
- Solid understanding of energy sector and its business, economic and technical dimension
- Understanding of the European energy market, and related regulatory framework (energy acquis) and understanding the implications for key stakeholders involved
- Experience in working within large teams from diverse backgrounds and skill sets
- Strong organization/analytical skills; experience working with detailed technical data and reports
- Good writing and communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex information and deliver verbal and written messages effectively
- Fluency (speaking, listening, writing, reading) in English
- Advanced proficiency in MS Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams
- Willingness to travel internationally to project locations and conferences
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in working within large teams from diverse backgrounds and skill sets
- Experience with the Eastern European, Western Balkans and/or Central Asian energy sector
- Experience in working for consulting, government or energy firms, preferably to include MDBs or donors
- Oral and written communication skills in French, Russian and/or Ukrainian
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently remain in a stationary position sitting or standing at a desk
- Occasionally move inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
- Constantly operate office equipment, such as computer, copy machine, scanner, or printer
- Constantly communicate information and ideas so others will understand
- Constantly observe details at close range
Additional Information
Employment type: This is a fulltime position
Work schedule:
Monday – Friday, standard core business hours (8:30 AM – 5:30 PM local time); some flexibility required to overlap core business hours for team collaboration and occasionally overlap with United States eastern standard time business hours
Work location:
This position is fully remote with occasional in person team meetings or corporate events (all arrangements subject to review and may change at the company's discretion)
Travel requirements:
Periodic international and/or regional travel may be required (including air travel, during which the employee may be required to remain seated for extended periods of time), including to conflict zones or areas with extreme temperatures Line management responsibility: N/A
