Job Description:
Job Description We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our team in Reno, Nevada. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanic who takes pride in diagnosing problems correctly, completing quality repairs, and keeping heavy equipment running with minimal downtime. We offer above-average wages based on experience and are looking for candidates with at least 5 years of hands-on heavy equipment mechanic experience.
What You'll Do:
Perform preventive maintenance and major repairs on excavators, bulldozers, graders, loaders, articulated dump trucks, and other earthmoving equipment.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic system failures.
Troubleshoot equipment using diagnostic tools and software.
Repair and overhaul diesel engines, fuel systems, and powertrain components.
Perform emergency field repairs and inspections on active jobsites.
Complete minor welding and fabrication, including MIG/ARC welding and bucket teeth replacement.
Maintain detailed service records for repairs, labor, and parts.
Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures.
Work independently in field environments while coordinating with the broader operations team.
What We're Looking For:
5+ years of heavy equipment mechanic experience.
Strong experience with earthmoving equipment.
Experience working with brands such as Caterpillar, Komatsu, Link-Belt, or similar equipment.
Strong knowledge of high-pressure hydraulic and electronic control systems.
Diesel engine and powertrain troubleshooting/repair experience.
Basic MIG/ARC welding and fabrication skills.
Ability to diagnose problems and complete repairs with minimal supervision.
Valid driver's license.
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30.Relevant trade school certification or journeyman background.
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. and work on, under, and around heavy machinery in varying weather conditions.
Personal set of basic hand tools. Specialty tools will be provided.
Preferred Background:
Heavy industrial or civil construction experience.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Field service experience.
Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
Strong written and verbal communication.
Comfortable working independently in remote field locations.
Team-oriented with a "fix-it-once" mentality.
