Job description:
Paratransit Operations Manager is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of specialized transportation services for passengers with disabilities, ensuring all operations are safe, efficient, and compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other federal regulations.
Major Responsibilities:
Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise a team of dispatchers, road supervisors, and bus operators. Conduct performance appraisals and develop staff improvement plans.
Service Monitoring: Oversee daily transit delivery, including on-time performance (OTP), trip productivity, and route efficiency.
Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict adherence to DOT, FTA, and ADA regulations. Manage accident investigations, safety audits, and risk mitigation programs.
Customer Relations: Address escalated customer complaints, no-shows, and missed trips. Monitor call center activities to ensure high-quality service.
Operational Planning: Assist in developing annual operating budgets, managing payroll, and optimizing vehicle assignments.
Technology Management: Utilize transit-specific software (e.g., Adept, Where’s my vehicle) for real-time tracking, scheduling, and data analysis.
Core Requirements
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in business, transportation, or a related field is typically required; equivalent work experience may be considered.
Experience:
Minimum 3–5 years of management or supervisory experience in the transportation industry, specifically in demand-response or paratransit environments.
Skills:
Strong analytical skills to interpret performance metrics and KPIs.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transit dispatching software.
Ability to manage conflict and lead teams in high-stress, fast-paced environments.
Physical & Working Conditions
Schedule:
Requires a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as paratransit operations frequently run 24/7.
