Commercial Lease Accountant

Responsibilities: Lease Accounting & Setup: Review, interpret, and abstract commercial lease agreements Set up new leases, amendments, expansions, and renewals Ensure accurate treatment of rent structures and allowances Development & Lease-Up Support: Partner with development teams during lease-up phases Track leases against pro forma assumptions Assist in transition to stabilized operations Tenant Billing & Recoveries: Generate tenant invoices (rent, CAM, taxes)Perform CAM reconciliations and true-ups Monitor receivables and resolve discrepancies Financial Reporting: Maintain records in accordance with GAAP (ASC 842 preferred)Prepare monthly reports and variance analysis Reconciliations & Controls: Reconcile rent rolls to general ledger Maintain internal controls and documentation Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with revenue forecasts and budgets Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with development, asset, and property managers

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3–6+ years in accounting, preferably real estate Experience with lease accounting and CAM reconciliations Knowledge of ASC 842 Experience with Yardi, MRI, SAP, or similar Advanced Excel skills

Preferred Skills: CPA or progress toward certification Experience with development projects and mixed-use assets Familiarity with real estate pro formas
