Description:
The role involves supporting cleanliness qualification and optics lifetime initiatives for semiconductor capital equipment. The individual will independently operate gas chromatography-mass spectrometry systems to identify and quantify molecular contamination. Responsibilities include designing test protocols, executing experiments on materials and subsystems, and interpreting complex spectral data. The position requires driving root-cause investigations and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams to address contamination issues. Additionally, the role entails managing lab inventory, maintaining instrumentation, and ensuring compliance with internal and industry standards.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least 3 years of experience, a Master’s degree with at least 1 year of experience, or a PhD in Chemistry, Material Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field. A minimum of 3 to 7 years of hands-on experience with GC-MS is required, specifically including dynamic headspace thermal desorption. Applicants must demonstrate the ability to design material cleanliness test protocols and work independently on instrument troubleshooting and data analysis. Proficiency with GC-MS data software and library searching is necessary.
