About the role

Guest Teaching Assistant Guest Teaching Assistants will assist the teacher by working with individual students or small groups to achieve teaching objectives when the permanent employee is absent. We are seeking enthusiastic individuals who are willing to accept assignments on a regular basis and work throughout the district. Essential Job Functions include implementing instructional plans, applying lesson modifications, administering tests, ensuring students have correct materials, taking notes, providing physical care, observing and documenting student behaviors, participating in team meetings, assisting with non-instructional activities, maintaining safety, escorting students, and recording student progress. Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities include reading, writing, and speaking English, basic arithmetic, computer proficiency, working with diverse groups, maintaining confidentiality, establishing supportive relationships, maintaining composure, reporting work, following instructions, working independently, and physical abilities. Education, Licensure, and Qualifications require at least one of the following: a Paraprofessional License, an Illinois Professional Educator License, or Substitute License. Successful completion of a fingerprint-based criminal background investigation, written evidence of a physical exam, and a negative tuberculosis test are also required. The rate of pay is $16.97/hour in regular education or special education self-contained classrooms.
