Senior Software Engineer

Overview As a Senior Software Engineer, you will help deliver the Group Benefits Absence Platform and drive the ACE initiative. You will collaborate with solution architects, testing partners, and cross-functional teams to design and implement cloud-native, API-driven solutions that support the business vision. You will mentor team members, coordinate multi-team deployments, and oversee SDLC governance in a fast-paced Agile environment. You will analyze incidents, implement monitoring, and help ensure secure, scalable software. This role offers the chance to shape Guardian's disability and absence management capabilities at scale. Responsibilities Develop complex solutions in an Agile, global team Hands-on API or micro-services development Lead technical design discussions across multiple disciplines Mentor and develop new engineers Coordinate deployments with offshore/onshore teams and Release Management Work with SaaS providers to deliver platform capabilities Oversee SDLC governance and enterprise changes Analyze logs to identify root causes and implement monitoring Key requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field 5+ years of professional software development experience Experience with service-oriented and cloud-native architecture Proficiency in Java Springboot, Aurora PostgresSQL, Redis, Hibernate, Microsoft Graph APIExperience with API/micro-service development, CI/CD, testing Cloud and security-focused development (AWS, Docker, EKS, SNS/SQS)Experience with logging/monitoring tools (App Dynamics, Cloud Watch, Splunk)Familiarity with TDD and high code coverage Ability to lead across multiple teams in a fast-paced environment Strong presentation and collaboration skillscollaborationanalytical problem-solvingeffective communication Java Springboot Aurora PostgresSQLRedis
