Lead Fleet Technician / Mechanic - Ambulance & Fleet Maintenance - $26 - $30 Hourly Wage

What You'll Do: Perform hands-on diagnostics, repair, and preventive maintenance on ambulances and fleet vehicles - engines, brakes, transmissions, suspension, electrical, HVAC, and more Troubleshoot and coordinate installation of specialty equipment (oxygen/medical air systems, radios, GPS, cameras, mounts) Assign and prioritize repair work for the maintenance team and provide technical guidance to mechanics Respond to vehicle breakdowns and get vehicles back in service quickly and safely Manage relationships with dealers, specialty shops, and outside vendors when work needs to be outsourced Keep maintenance records, parts inventory, and shop equipment organized and accurate Maintain a clean, safe, well-run shop and lead by example on safety practices

Requirements: What You Bring At least 4 years of experience as a mechanic, including gas and diesel engines, suspension, steering, and brakes Must have EVT or ASE Certifications Your own set of basic automotive tools A clean driving record Comfort working independently, managing multiple jobs at once, and making good calls without someone standing over your shoulder Basic computer skills for maintenance records and documentation Good to Know Ability to lift up to 250 lbs with a partner and handle physical work including walking, crawling, and kneeling Must pass a post-offer physical, drug screen, and background check; This role reports to the Fleet Manager Why Vital Medical Transport If you like variety, want real ownership over how a shop runs, and take pride in a job done right, we'd like to talk.
