About the role

About the Opportunity: Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to serve as a key member of the executive leadership team. This individual will act as the primary financial advisor to the Superintendent and Board, providing leadership in financial planning, budgeting, reporting, compliance, and operational strategy. The CFO will oversee the district's financial services functions and ensure fiscal stewardship while supporting organizational goals and long-term strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities: Lead and oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and reporting. Develop and manage the annual operating budget for presentation to executive leadership and governing boards. Provide strategic financial guidance regarding resource allocation, regulatory compliance, and fiscal sustainability. Supervise teams responsible for budgeting, accounting, cost accounting, and financial administration. Ensure effective management of operating, capital, debt service, special revenue, and internal funds. Review, analyze, and communicate financial performance through executive presentations, reports, dashboards, and recommendations. Coordinate audit activities, financial compliance initiatives, and internal control processes. Monitor compliance with applicable financial regulations, policies, and reporting requirements. Support strategic planning initiatives through financial analysis, forecasting, and resource optimization. Collaborate with executive leadership, stakeholders, and external agencies to secure and manage funding opportunities.
Required Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited institution required. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field required. Minimum 7 years of management, accounting, budgeting, or financial operations experience supporting large-scale organizations. Minimum 3 years of leadership, supervisory, or administrative experience. Demonstrated expertise in financial planning, budget management, forecasting, and financial reporting. Strong analytical, communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Experience leading cross-functional teams and driving organizational financial strategy.
Preferred Qualifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred. Experience within public sector, education, government, or similarly complex environments preferred.
