About Pit ViperPit Viper is an eyewear company based in South Salt Lake, Utah that designs, develops, and manufactures sports performance equipment and lifestyle pieces. Our mission is to bring the party to performance eyewear and offer durable, functional, and expressive products at an exceptional value, while making you laugh. Our vision is to build the most fun brand the world has ever known. You're welcome.
Location: South Salt Lake, UT
Reports to:
- VP of Marketing
- Why This Role ExistsPit Viper sells through roughly 600 wholesale accounts, fourteen rep groups, and a growing set of national key accounts. Today we ask those partners to sell our product into doors with limited marketing support beyond brand strength.
- Our direct business has a marketing engine behind it. Our wholesale business has never truly had one. This role builds it.
- This is a marketing position, not a sales support position. It sits inside the marketing team and owns the plan, the budget, and the calendar for everything that makes a buyer place an order and a consumer choose us off a shelf.
Position Overview:
The Director of Wholesale and Retail Marketing owns Pit Viper's integrated marketing plan for the wholesale channel, from sell-in to sell-through. The role has two audiences: the buyer who places the order, and the consumer standing in front of the case. The role owns a dedicated wholesale and retail marketing budget and is accountable for how it is spent. It works daily with sales, creative, product, and the web team, and is the person who makes sure wholesale is built into every go-to-market plan rather than added at the end.
Key Responsibilities:
- Marketing to the buyer
- Build and run the wholesale buyer email program, including seasonal sell-in campaigns and at-once product announcements.
- Own sales programs, promotions, and incentive structures for the rep network and key accounts.
- Produce line sheets, capsule sell sheets, catalogs, and seasonal sales tools in partnership with the design team.
- Own retailer-facing imagery, copy, and product data, including what feeds the Shopify B2B storefront.
- Build and administer the co-op and MDF structure, including paid placement with retail partners.
- Own the annual trade show calendar, budget, booth, samples, and staffing. Winter Sports Market is the priority show.
- Marketing to the consumer at the door
- Own the display and fixture program end to end: design brief, shop-type variants, production, allocation, and refresh cycle.
- Build window programs, silent sales tools, mirrors, and in-store merchandising kits.
- Run salesperson incentive and education programs so staff open the case and put product on faces.
- Own the shop finder and any local or regional activation in priority territories.
- Partner with sales on capsule assortments by shop type, including moto, safety and industrial, snow, bike, and outdoor.
- Planning and accountability
- Own the wholesale and retail marketing budget and report on its return.
- Build the wholesale section of every go-to-market plan, not as an afterthought.
- Partner with PR and partnerships so wholesale accounts benefit from brand-level activity.
- Measure sell-through, not just sell-in, and use it to direct spend.
- Qualifications6 or more years in channel, trade, retail, or B2B marketing for a consumer brand.
- Direct experience building retailer-facing programs: display, co-op, trade shows, sell-in campaigns.
- Comfortable talking to sales reps and retail buyers, and willing to spend time in doors.
- Budget ownership experience with a track record of showing return.
- Strong project management across creative, product, and external vendors.
- Experience in action sports, outdoor, hardgoods, or a similar specialty retail category is a significant plus.
- Alignment with Pit Viper's brand personality and culture.
What Success Looks Like:
Year one: a functioning buyer marketing calendar, a refreshed display program with shop-type variants, and a trade show plan with budget attached.
Wholesale is present in every go-to-market plan as a matter of course.
Rep groups and key accounts report that Pit Viper is easier to sell and better supported than it was.
Sell-through at the door becomes something we can see and act on.
