Medical-Surgical Orthopedic Trauma Registered Nurse

Mission Health in Asheville, NC is seeking a compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Med-Surg Ortho Trauma team within the Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to adult orthopedic and trauma patients, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing interventions. Collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team, support safe transitions of care, and educate patients and families. Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult Med-Surg Ortho Trauma patients from admission through discharge Perform ongoing patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and respond to changes in condition Administer medications, treatments, and IV therapy safely and accurately Manage post-operative and trauma care including wound care, drains, traction, and orthopedic devices Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to develop and update individualized care plans Educate patients and families on diagnoses, surgical procedures, pain management, mobility, and discharge instructions Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record Participate in quality and safety initiatives, including fall prevention, infection prevention, and pain management protocols Support early mobility and rehabilitation goals in coordination with physical and occupational therapy Precept and mentor new staff as appropriate and contribute to a positive, team-oriented work environment Acute care bedside nursing Medical-surgical nursing Orthopedic and trauma nursing fundamentals Patient assessment and clinical judgment IV insertion and management Safe medication administration Wound and post-operative care management Pain management strategies Care planning and prioritization Electronic health record (EHR) documentation Infection prevention and control Fall prevention and patient safety practices Interdisciplinary collaboration and communication Patient and family education Time management and multitasking in high-acuity settings Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance 401k Current RN license in state of practice (e.g., North Carolina) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred or obtained within defined timeframe Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred Orthopedic nursing certification (e.g., ONC) preferred Prior Med-Surg or Ortho/Trauma clinical experience strongly preferred Ability to safely administer medications and operate relevant clinical equipment
