About the role
Volunteer Prep Cooks assist the Shelter Kitchen Specialist prep food to serve to our emergency shelter guests. The shelter provides a safe and dignified space for 22 women and 44 men every night. We provide housing advocacy, healthcare services, toiletry and basic clothing supplies, showers, lockers, and three meals a day. Our goal is to help our shelter guests move into safe, affordable, and stable housing as soon as possible. Sample Volunteer Tasks Wash and chop ingredients Wash Dishes Contribute new recipe ideas to the menu Timeframe This volunteer opportunity is available Monday through Friday, year-round. Volunteers may sign up for a afternoon shift (2 pm - 5 pm ). Volunteers are required to commit 2 shifts a month.
Qualifications:
Simpson Housing Services is looking for responsible, reliable, and respectful volunteers who can work comfortably in a commercial kitchen and communicate with a people of diverse backgrounds. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.
