Role Description: This part-time remote Medical Laboratory Technician role supports instructional and academic activities in the medical technology and laboratory science areas. The technician will assist with preparing virtual lab materials, maintaining accurate digital records of lab procedures, and supporting faculty with online demonstrations and simulations. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing laboratory protocols, ensuring quality control standards are met, troubleshooting issues related to laboratory data, and helping interpret basic lab results for educational purposes. The role also involves coordinating with faculty and staff to align remote lab activities with curriculum requirements, following safety and compliance guidelines, and communicating clearly with students and colleagues via online platforms.
Qualifications: Candidates should possess skills in Medical Technology and Laboratory Medicine to support academic and instructional laboratory activities. Candidates should possess strong Laboratory Skills, including specimen handling concepts, basic diagnostic procedures, and data documentation. Candidates should possess knowledge of Quality Control practices to help ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance in laboratory processes. Candidates should possess familiarity with Laboratory Equipment, including understanding of standard instruments, maintenance principles, and safe operation protocols. Relevant qualifications such as an associate or bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field are preferred. Certification or eligibility for certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (e.g., ASCP or equivalent) is beneficial. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and the ability to follow standardized procedures and regulatory guidelines. Comfort working in a remote environment, with reliable internet access and proficiency in basic office and learning management software.
