The Opportunity: The Account Executive is responsible for retaining and growing an existing book of employer clients through strong broker partnerships, strategic consultation, and exceptional client service. In this role, you’ll build and maintain trusted relationships with strategic broker partners, understand the needs of employer groups, and provide consultative guidance that helps clients develop effective healthcare strategies. You’ll lead and participate in midyear, pre-renewal, and renewal meetings, support implementations and employee education, and identify opportunities to expand the value of our solutions. You’ll work closely with brokers, employers, employees, and internal teams to deliver an experience that earns loyalty and drives long-term growth.
What You’ll Do: Manage & Grow Client Relationships: Own an assigned book of small and mid-market employer accounts, with a focus on retention, relationship development, and long-term growth. Build Broker Partnerships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with strategic broker partners and their teams. Serve as a trusted resource and key point of contact throughout the client lifecycle. Provide Strategic Consultation: Understand client needs and provide thoughtful, value-added guidance to help employers develop healthcare strategies that support their goals and create long-term value. Lead Renewal Conversations: Conduct midyear, pre-renewal, and renewal meetings with brokers and clients. Clearly communicate financial results, plan performance, and renewal recommendations. Support Implementation & Education: Partner with broker teams and internal departments to ensure successful implementation of The Difference Card. Conduct broker education meetings and provide the information and support needed for a successful client experience.
Lead Employee Education: Conduct professional and engaging open enrollment meetings that help employees understand and confidently use The Difference Card. Effective education should reduce member inquiries, increase adoption, and support client retention. Drive Retention & Growth: Identify opportunities to strengthen client relationships, retain existing business, and introduce additional products and solutions that provide greater value to employer groups. Expand Client Relationships: Cross-sell additional lines of business to existing employer clients and identify opportunities to transition appropriate large accounts to the self-funded Difference Health Plan. Deliver Exceptional Service: Respond to broker and employer inquiries received by phone and email within established service expectations, generally within 4–8 hours. Collaborate Across the Organization: Develop strong working relationships with internal teams, including Operations, Technology, Finance, and Underwriting, to effectively advocate for clients and deliver solutions. Travel for Client Engagements: Travel as needed to meet with clients, brokers, and employees and support key meetings and events. Perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience. State health insurance license obtained within the first six months of employment. Demonstrated experience retaining and growing an existing book of business, preferably within the insurance or employee benefits industry. Experience working with health insurance carriers, brokers, and employer groups. Strong presentation and public speaking skills, with the ability to confidently present to business owners, brokers, employees, and other key stakeholders. Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic-thinking skills, with the ability to translate client needs into effective solutions. Highly motivated and self-directed, with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Teams, Power Point, Word, and Excel, as well as Zoom. Experience using a customer relationship management (CRM) system such as Salesforce. Spanish fluency preferred.
What Success Looks Like: Clients and brokers trust you as a knowledgeable, responsive, and strategic partner. Your book of business is retained and strengthened, with a client retention rate of 85%+.You create meaningful client engagement through open enrollment, midyear financial, pre-renewal, and renewal meetings. Your client communications are accurate and timely, including renewal financial exhibits and summaries of benefits. Clients recognize the value you provide, reflected in strong satisfaction survey results and positive feedback. You identify opportunities for growth, including cross-selling additional products and expanding the relationship with existing employer groups. You collaborate effectively across teams to resolve issues, support implementations, and deliver a seamless client experience. You become a trusted extension of our broker partners’ teams, helping them educate, support, and retain their clients. Position Metrics Activity: Consistent completion of open enrollment, midyear financial, pre-renewal, and renewal meetings across the assigned book of business. Quality: Renewal financial exhibits and summaries of benefits maintained at greater than 90% accuracy and completed within established timelines.
Client Experience: Strong client satisfaction results, including survey participation across the assigned book and an average satisfaction score of 14/15 or higher. Retention: Client retention of 85% or higher. Growth: Cross-selling at least one additional product to 10% of the assigned book of business. Position Details
