About the role
Responsibilities:
Manage the annual tax compliance and financial audit process for a portfolio of corporate and partnership entities, coordinating with external accounting firms from initial preparation through final submission. Monitor tax filing deadlines, extensions, and required documentation to ensure timely compliance. Review completed tax returns and supporting workpapers for accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Serve as the primary internal contact for external auditors, coordinating requests, reviewing draft financial statements, responding to inquiries, and tracking outstanding items through completion. Oversee specialized audit and certification processes related to development and investment activities. Review regulatory or third-party audit comments, coordinate responses, and manage follow-up through final resolution. Partner with accounting, development, construction, and other internal teams to gather financial information, resolve discrepancies, and ensure costs and allocations are properly supported. Maintain organized electronic records for tax filings, audits, certifications, and related documentation. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to accounting staff and support the development of junior team members. Assist with establishing new legal entities, including tax registrations and related setup requirements. Identify opportunities to improve tax, audit, reporting, and compliance processes and implement more efficient workflows.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.5+ years of progressive experience in tax compliance, financial audit, or a combination of public accounting and industry experience. Experience working with real estate, investment, partnership, or development-related entities is preferred. Experience coordinating with external CPA firms and managing multiple concurrent tax and audit deadlines. Strong understanding of partnership and corporate tax compliance. CPA designation preferred. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and work independently. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with accounting, finance, and operational teams.
