Nutritional ConsultantScope of responsibilities and accountability: Collaborate with GI and hepatology providers and staff to support nutritional aspects of patient care and clinical operationsServe as liaison between OhioGastro nutrition services and external specialty program(s) Practice within the scope of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and company policiesMonitor and support nutrition-related workflows, including patient education and follow-upProvide education and training to support staff on GI and liver-specific nutrition topicsMaintain clinical staff competencies related to nutrition education and dietary protocolsAssist physicians and leadership with GI and hepatology-related nutrition projectsDeliver nutrition counseling via telehealth platforms, ensuring accessibility and continuity of careSupport and manage patients enrolled in retail weight management programs, including goal setting, progress tracking, and behavioral coachingParticipate in quality improvement programsMajor activities and essential job functions: Conduct comprehensive nutritional assessments for patients with GI and liver conditions such as IBD, IBS, celiac disease, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, and hepatitisDevelop and implement individualized nutrition care plans based on clinical data and patient needsEducate patients and caregivers on dietary management of GI symptoms, liver disease progression, and transplant preparationCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated care planningMonitor patient progress and adjust nutrition plans based on labs, symptoms, and treatment goalsProvide virtual nutrition consultations and follow-ups through secure telehealth platformsManage weight loss and lifestyle modification programs in a retail setting, including product education and nutrition coachingSupport physician practice through timely documentation and communicationMaintain patient privacy and confidentialityPerform other duties as assignedSecondary Job Functions: Support colleagues with cross-functional tasksMaintain HIPAA complianceAttend mandatory meetings and professional development sessionsPerform additional duties as assigned by leadershipKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesStrong clinical assessment and critical thinking skillsExcellent communication and patient education abilitiesEffective time management and prioritizationTeam-oriented with multidisciplinary collaboration skillsProficient in EMR, telehealth platforms, and nutrition documentation systemsFamiliarity with retail nutrition services and weight management strategies is a plusCredentials and ExperienceEducation: Bachelor's Degree or (preferred) Master's Degree in Nutrition of Dietetics from an ACEND-accredited programExperience: 2+ years of clinical nutrition experience.
