Typical responsibilities include setting up and operating mechanical, hydraulic, or CNC shears. Loading and positioning raw materials safely. Reading blueprints, work orders, and measurement specifications. Measuring materials using tape measures, calipers, or other precision tools. Adjusting machine settings for thickness, length, and cut requirements. Inspecting finished pieces for dimensions, quality, and defects. Performing basic machine maintenance and troubleshooting. Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area. Following PPE, lockout/tagout, and other workplace safety procedures. Recording production quantities and material usage.
