Senior Director, Business Operations & Portfolio Controls

Overview In this role you drive enterprise‑level Workplace Delivery operations, shaping how projects and programs are governed, funded, and executed. You will build and lead a cross‑functional team to standardize processes and ensure scalable, data‑driven decision making across a large portfolio. You’ll implement governance, risk management, and digital enablement to support campus development and strategic objectives. Compensation / Benefitsdiscretionary annual bonusbenefits described by Genentech Responsibilities Define and maintain the business operations and portfolio controls strategy for Workplace Delivery, aligning with campus vision Build and lead integrated Business Operations and Portfolio Controls teams with SMEs in controls, estimating, scheduling, capital governance, safety, and process design Standardize processes across Workplace Delivery ( intake, prioritization, approval workflows, change control, risk management, financial approvals, close‑out)Oversee Portfolio Controls with best‑practice estimation, scheduling, cost control, and risk management Lead the digital enablement strategy for Workplace Delivery with dashboards, analytics platforms, BIM and asset management tool integration Collaborate with Procurement on contract structures, vendor selection, and payment terms aligned with governance Identify, assess, and mitigate risks; develop contingency plans for business continuity Lead annual business outcomes for Workplace Delivery OPS & Portfolio Controls, aligning with Site Services, Finance, and enterprise goals Oversee business services (administrative support, reporting cadence, tooling, templates) to ensure consistent execution Key requirements 15+ years in systems environment, engineering, construction, or project management 5+ years in senior project services, portfolio controls, or business operations leadership in complex environments Proven track record in establishing and leading project controls, portfolio management, or business operations for large portfolios and major capital programs Experience delivering large projects (> USD 50M) or programs (> USD 100M aggregate) in complex campus/industrial settings Biotech/pharmaceutical experience and knowledge of industry regulations preferredPMI or equivalent certification desirable; IACCM or similar contract management certification a plusstrategic leadershipcross‑functional collaborationrisk managementportfolio controlscost controlscheduling
