Telephone Worker (Part-Time) Part Time Brooklyn, NY, US
Salary Range: $18.00 To $22.00 Annually
Summary Job Description:
The Flagship Switchboard Operator acts as a receptionist, monitoring the visitor traffic into Flagship as well as being responsible for answering and forwarding incoming calls to the agency, Additionally, when work volume permits assists office manager as directed.
Under general supervision, responsible for relaying incoming and outgoing calls and the transfer of calls. At times, work may involve dealing with visitors under a great deal of stress and dealing with external vendors.

Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is a human services nonprofit supporting the well-being of children, youth, families, and individuals across New York City and Long Island since 1929.
Our staff of more than 500 builds well-being by providing prevention services, foster care, residential treatment care, adoption services, programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities, and medical and mental health services.
Answers incoming calls and transfers to the proper extensions.
Places long-distance calls and may be asked to place local and interoffice calls.
Answers routine questions and directs other questions to appropriate staff.
Acts as a receptionist and must act professionally as the first point of contact for the agency
Performs clerical duties when volume of work permits.
Under direction, assists in coordinating of transportation requests
Under direction, assists in preparing for agency events
Under direction, assists in MetroCard reconciliation
Under direction, assists in Petty Cash reconciliation.
Under direction, assists in office supplies requisition and fulfilment
Under direction, interfaces with external vendors
Should be knowledgeable in the use of fax, phone and copier and scanners
Trains and oversees the work of relief operators.
Required Qualifications and Experience
High School Diploma or GED.
Previous experience as a receptionist, telephone operator, or in some other capacity dealing with the public.
Ability to learn the operation of the communications system.
Ability to speak clearly and distinctly, in a well-modulated and pleasant voice.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to keep records.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, and clients.
Ability to develop and maintain effective public relations for the agency.
Must always act in a professional manner and represent the agency
Preferred Qualifications and Experience
Fluent in Spanish or French preferred
Travel Requirements:
This position offers a part-time, in person work schedul e and is based in Brooklyn, NY.
