Job Description: This role focuses on operating rubber and silicone extrusion equipment in a clean, FDA-regulated environment to produce high-quality medical and pharmaceutical tubing. You will follow detailed work instructions, perform routine quality checks, and maintain a safe, efficient, and organized production area while working at a fast pace on 1st shift. Responsibilities: Operate rubber and silicone extrusion machines in accordance with established procedures and detailed work instructions. Feed silicone and rubber materials into extrusion machines and maintain a consistent material supply to the extrusion lines. Cut extruded product to precise lengths based on work instructions and production specifications. Package finished products accurately and prepare them for shipment or further processing. Prepare extrusion machines for each tubing run, including setup and adjustment according to process requirements. Monitor extrusion processes continuously and identify irregularities such as temperature, pressure, or flow issues. Perform routine quality inspections to ensure all products meet required specifications and standards. Conduct visual inspections of products and document inspection results and other production data accurately. Run multiple extrusion machines simultaneously when needed while maintaining product quality and throughput. Make incremental adjustments to extrusion settings to maintain consistent product quality and performance. Change screen packs and perform basic equipment adjustments to ensure proper machine performance. Clean extrusion crossheads and maintain overall equipment cleanliness in accordance with GMP and FDA standards. Document production runs, material usage, and quality checks clearly and completely for traceability and compliance. Follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements, including clean room protocols, to maintain a safe working environment. Stand at the production machines for the entire shift while monitoring continuous operations in a fast-paced environment. Lift up to 50 pounds as needed to handle raw materials, finished products, and packaging supplies. Assist senior operators and technicians with troubleshooting process issues and implementing process improvements. Maintain a clean, organized work area and support overall production efficiency and quality. Essential Skills At least 1 year of manufacturing or production experience. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly as required. Willingness and ability to work in a clean room environment under FDA and GMP regulations. Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions and standard operating procedures. Comfort working in a fast-paced production environment with continuous machine operations. Attention to detail for performing visual inspections and documenting quality checks. Basic mechanical aptitude to operate and adjust production machinery. Commitment to following strict safety, cleanliness, and PPE requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications: Experience as a machine operator in manufacturing is a plus. Experience in extrusion operations, injection molding, or similar processes is highly beneficial. Exposure to PVC or TPE extrusion is an advantage. Experience working in FDA-compliant, GMP, pharmaceutical, or medical manufacturing environments is preferred. Ability to monitor process variables such as temperature, pressure, and material flow and make appropriate adjustments. Comfort documenting production runs, material usage, and inspection results for compliance and traceability. Why Work Here? Work Environment: The role is based in a highly technical, automated extrusion facility with approximately 50 employees across three shifts and nine state-of-the-art extrusion machines. The environment is extremely clean and temperature controlled, with air conditioning in the summer and heat in the winter; certain sterile rooms are maintained at around 68 degrees. You work in an FDA-regulated, GMP-compliant clean room producing millions of feet of medical and pharmaceutical tubing each month for use in hospitals, surgeries, neonatal care, feeding tubes, and animal healthcare. You will be provided with a locker for personal belongings and will suit up in a paper gown before every shift, similar to surgical attire; a new gown is provided weekly. Tennis shoes are acceptable, and steel-toe boots are not required. Clean room PPE requirements include hair tied back with a hairnet worn at all times, beard net if applicable, and strict restrictions on fake nails, fingernail polish, makeup, false eyelashes, piercings, jewelry, and food or drink in the clean room area. The work involves standing for the full shift at machines that run continuously in a fast-paced but non-strenuous environment. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
