Pharmacist Position at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, TXAIMS Locum Tenens is seeking a qualified pharmacist to provide comprehensive pharmaceutical care at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, TX. The pharmacist is responsible for dispensing medications, reviewing medication therapy, counseling patients, collaborating with healthcare providers, supervising pharmacy technicians, and ensuring compliance with all federal, state, DHA, and military pharmacy regulations. General duties include providing pharmaceutical services within the scope of clinical privileges granted by the Medical Treatment Facility and performing duties in accordance with contract requirements, DHA policies, and applicable pharmacy regulations. Specific duties include reviewing, verifying, and dispensing prescription medications safely and accurately; counseling patients on medication use, dosage, side effects, and drug interactions; monitoring medication therapy and collaborating with providers to optimize patient care; supervising pharmacy technicians and ensuring the accuracy of medications prepared; maintaining controlled substance records, pharmacy inventory, and regulatory compliance; and participating in quality improvement, medication safety, and pharmacy education activities. Qualifications include a bachelor's degree in pharmacy or doctor of pharmacy (Pharm. D.), graduation from a college or university accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), current basic life support (BLS) certification - active, minimum 1,5002,000 hours of pharmacy experience, including at least 500 hours in a retail or institutional pharmacy, completed within the last two years after training, current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a pharmacist in any U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia, comprehensive knowledge of pharmacology and medication therapy management, strong clinical judgment and attention to detail, excellent communication and patient counseling skills, knowledge of pharmacy regulations and controlled substance requirements, ability to supervise pharmacy technicians and collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams, and proficiency with electronic pharmacy and health record systems. The schedule includes full-time, 40 hours per week, hospital operates 24/7, rotating 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts, days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and training holidays may be required, and overtime authorized only when required to support mission needs or continuity of patient care. Physical requirements include the ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive hand movements, lift up to 25 pounds, and safely perform pharmacy duties requiring accuracy, manual dexterity, and frequent interaction with patients and healthcare staff. The work environment is performed in a military hospital or outpatient pharmacy where pharmacists collaborate with physicians, nurses, and pharmacy technicians to provide safe, effective medication therapy while maintaining strict regulatory, quality, and patient safety standards. Immunization requirements include meeting all DHA/CRDAMC occupational health requirements, including required immunizations and annual health screenings prior to and during employment. Security requirements include being eligible to obtain and maintain required background clearance, Common Access Card (CAC), and completing all mandatory DHA/Army security and HIPAA training.
Compensation:
