Role: IT/AI Specialist

Location: Flexible (NY Preferred)Required Work Authorization: USAAs the IT/AI Specialist, you will help build Crown Affair’s technology function from the ground up. You’re someone who lives in AI tools, not just at work but in your own life. You’ve probably already automated the tedious parts of your day simply because you enjoy finding the tool or workflow that makes something unnecessary. You’ll bring that same instinct here: owning and improving the tech stack, working through technical debt, and identifying opportunities to turn manual work into smarter, more automated systems. This role will work cross-functionally across the organization, helping us build technology and infrastructure that scale with the business.
What you will do: —Tech Stack & Systems Own the core tech stack and system integrations, ensuring systems run smoothly and reliably Work through existing tech debt, prioritizing and shipping fixes that create meaningful momentum Serve as the point of contact for technical issues, systems questions, and access requests Support and improve workflows across tools and systems, including ERP infrastructure and integrationsAI Tooling & Automation Take findings from ongoing technical audits and translate them into working tools and solutions Pilot AI tools and agents against real business workflows, identify what works, and scale it quickly Identify manual and repetitive work across the organization and build or buy solutions to automate it Take ownership of open technical projects and drive them through implementation and resolution Build lightweight tools, workflows, and automations that improve speed, accuracy, and visibility across teams Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Maintain core security standards and support cybersecurity and insurance compliance requirements Help establish scalable technology processes, documentation, permissions, and infrastructure Proactively identify system risks and opportunities to strengthen our technical foundation Cross-Functional Partnership Work across teams to identify where reporting, administrative work, or disconnected systems are creating unnecessary manual work and build solutions that give that time back Partner closely with our data and analytics function so automation and reporting infrastructure are built on the same foundation Build tooling and workflows that support the Project Management function’s visibility across the organization Partner with Operations on ERP and workflow improvements, including systems such as Cin 7 and related integrations Key Requirements—1–3 years of experience in IT, systems, automation, technical operations, or a scrappy startup environment where you had meaningful ownership Daily, hands-on use of AI tools professionally and personally, with specific examples of workflows, agents, tools, or automations you have built Strong instinct for identifying inefficient processes and translating them into practical technical solutions Experience with ERP systems such as Cin 7, Net Suite, or similar strongly preferred Comfortable working across systems and integrations and learning unfamiliar tools quickly Ability to independently troubleshoot technical issues and drive projects through resolution Highly organized and comfortable managing multiple technical priorities simultaneously Strong communicator who can translate technical concepts for non-technical partners Bias toward action: you would rather ship a working first version and improve it than wait for a perfect solution The candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States What Success Looks Like—Tech debt backlog is shrinking against a clearly defined roadmap Manual process hours are measurably declining quarter over quarter Core security and infrastructure basics are established, documented, and audit-ready High-impact automations are being implemented across teams New AI tools are tested quickly, with a clear point of view on what should be scaled, changed, or discontinued Core systems and ERP workflows become more connected, reliable, and scalable as the business grows About Crown Affair—Crown Affair is a first of its kind haircare brand that empowers people to redefine their relationship with their hair through accessible luxury products, guidance, and community.
