Adjunct Faculty - History Priority Application Date: October 15, 2026 (open until filled)
Anticipated Start Date: January 2027 POSITION DESCRIPTION Taft College is seeking a pool of qualified candidates with demonstrated instructional skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and staff to provide high-quality programs and services for our students. Teaching assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed (as specified in Education Code 8748.25). We are seeking lecturers who have the ability to teach History for inclusion in a pool for the Spring 2027 semester and beyond.
Note: This recruitment is for in-person courses offered on the Taft College campus or Dual Enrollment courses offered at Taft Union High School.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The minimum qualifications for this adjunct lecturer pool can be met in one of the ways below: Master’s in history: OR Bachelor’s in history AND Master’s in political science, humanities, geography, area studies, women’s studies, social science or ethnic studies; OR An Equivalency Determination may be submitted along with all application materials to be considered for this position if you do not meet the stated minimum qualifications. The Equivalency Determination document may be found on the Taft College website here: Request for Equivalency Must show a demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
COMPENSATION: $80.78-$94.91 per hour. REQUIRED MATERIALS FOR APPLICATION: Completed online application. Letter of Introduction describing how you meet the minimum and desired qualifications.
