Job Description:
Bellarmine University Athletics is searching for an Assistant Athletic Trainer. Will report to the Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Wellness/Head Athletic Trainer. The Assistant Athletic Trainer willbe responsible for: On-site care of Student-Athlete injuries/illnesses, includingprevention, evaluation, management, and rehabilitation of athleticinjuries Coordinate and implement prevention programs and strategies inconjunction with the Strength and Conditioning staff Electronic documentation of all patient encounters throughinjury tracking EMRCommunicate with Team Physicians, other allied healthprofessions, and coaching staff regarding injury status andtreatment plan of Student-Athletes Assist in the day-to-day operations of the athletic trainingroom. Ensure that student-athletes use equipment and facilitiesproperly, including adherence to Athletic Training Room timeschedules and proper operating procedures Provide daily medical care for assigned student-athletes perthe Athletic Training Department standard operating procedures Assist with filing and resolving issues concerning secondaryinsurance Perform administrative and other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletic Director for Student Athlete Wellness/Head Athletic Trainer Visa sponsorship is not provided for this position.
Requirements:
- Evaluation, Treatment, and Rehabilitation of Student-Athleteinjuries
- Work with Sports Medicine team to design and implement pre- andpost-injury programs
- Travel with athletic teams as assigned and directed
- Critical thinking and independent decision making regarding theassessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and return to play decisionsper state licensure guidelines
- Organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks with little orno supervision.
- Communicate effectively in high-stress/pressure situations whentalking to patients, medical professionals, coaches, staff, andfamilies.
- Ability to lift 80 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/orcarrying of objects
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Qualifications:
- BOC Certification
- Master's degree from a professional athletic training educationprogram accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic
- Training Education (CAATE)
- Eligible for KY Medical State License
- Current Fist Aid and CPR/AED certification
- Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
