About the role

Sign Language Interpreter Opportunity Make a meaningful impact in an educational setting by providing essential support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing. This full-time, onsite contract opportunity is designed for highly skilled Sign Language Interpreters ready to work for the 2026–2027 school year. You'll be part of a dynamic and welcoming school community, collaborating closely with educators and supporting individual student needs to ensure equitable access to education.
Key Qualifications:
  • Current Sign Language Interpreter license in the state of North Carolina
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and comprehensive understanding of interpreting best practices for educational settings
  • Ability to work full-time onsite throughout the academic year (August 10, 2026 – May 27, 2027)
  • Previous experience in a school environment, with a strong focus on student-centered services
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and inclusivity
What You'll Do:
  • Interpret classroom instruction, discussions, and school-related activities, ensuring clear and accurate communication for students
  • Collaborate with teachers and special education teams to adapt instructional materials and strategies as needed
  • Facilitate communication during meetings, assemblies, and school events as assigned
  • Champion a supportive learning atmosphere, advocating for equal access and opportunities for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Maintain excellent documentation and adhere to school district policies and ethical guidelines
