About the role

About Lima Lima provides premium immigration services to skilled immigrants in the U.S. and overseas. We believe that navigating the immigration system should be clear, dignified, and stress-free, and we're building a team that shares that mission.
About the Role: We are looking for a sharp and meticulous Legal Writer to work directly with our founders and partner attorneys. You will turn our clients' careers into compelling, evidence-backed petitions by interviewing clients, organizing their evidence, and drafting the persuasive narratives that carry a case from intake to filing. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role ideal for someone who loves writing, thrives in a fast-moving environment, and wants to grow alongside a founding team.
What You'll Do: Petition support Prepare drafts of petition letters, cover letters, and supporting narratives for employment-based and talent-based visas for review, refinement, and filing by our partner attorneys. Translate complex technical, scientific, artistic, and business achievements into clear, well-supported narratives identified by legal counsel. Gather and prepare additional evidence when USCIS requests more information, in coordination with counsel. Evidence & recommendation letters Interview clients to understand their background, accomplishments, and impact; surface the strongest achievements and evidence gaps to inform counsel's case strategy. Draft expert opinion and recommendation letters in collaboration with clients and their recommenders, tailoring voice and emphasis to each signatory. Organize, label, and index exhibits so every claim in the petition is supported by clear, well-documented evidence. Quality, process & client support Work closely with founders, consultants, and partner attorneys, incorporating their feedback quickly and maintaining a consistently high standard of accuracy. Track case status, deadlines, and document versions; keep clients updated on drafting progress and evidence requests, routing legal questions to counsel. Help build Lima's writing playbook: templates, criteria checklists, and best practices that make our drafts faster to produce and easier for counsel to review.
What we're looking for
Must have: 2–3 years of immigration legal writing experience, with demonstrated experience drafting recommendation letters, petition letters and case narratives for O-1, EB-1A, and EB-2 NIW petitions. Work experience at an immigration law firm, immigration services company, or in-house team. Exceptional persuasive writing and editing skills; able to make a non-specialist officer understand why a client's work matters. Strong research skills and comfort working with technical subject matter across fields such as engineering, AI, life sciences, business, and the arts. Working knowledge of USCIS evidentiary standards and adjudication trends for extraordinary ability and national interest cases. Highly organized and detail-oriented, comfortable managing multiple cases, revisions, and deadlines simultaneously. Self-starter who is comfortable working with ambiguity and taking ownership in an early-stage environment. A hardworking individual with a problem-solving mindset: someone who spots weaknesses early and flags them for counsel, thinks on their feet, and takes proactive initiative without waiting to be asked. Genuine interest in immigration, skilled talent mobility, or the broader startup ecosystem. A Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts and sciences, law, communications, or a related field.
