ASAPAbout UsPawfy is one of the fastest-growing pet supplement brands in the UK & US - and we're on a mission to become the biggest. We're a fast-moving digital brand in the pet health, wellness, and e-commerce space, built on ownership, trust, and results. No corporate fluff, just high standards, creative thinking, and people who get things done - all to help dogs live longer, healthier, happier lives.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a Product Specialist to support the development, formulation, organisation, and compliance of our growing range of dog supplements. Working closely with the Head of Product, you will play a key role in developing new formulations, improving palatability, maintaining product information, coordinating projects, supporting compliance initiatives, and ensuring our internal product knowledge remains accurate and accessible. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented, and passionate about pet nutrition. What You'll Be Responsible For:
- Support the formulation and reformulation of dog supplements (chews, powders, and liquids), working with manufacturers and nutritionists to balance efficacy, dosing, cost, and stability
- Lead palatability improvements - coordinating taste/acceptance testing, flavour and texture development, and acting on customer feedback where dogs refuse or dislike products
- Develop clear, weight-based dosing guidelines and feeding instructions for every product
- Monitor customer reviews and CS feedback for efficacy, palatability, and adverse reaction trends, and feed insights back into product development
- Own and maintain the master database of all products, ingredients, formulations, certifications, technical documents, specifications, and supporting materials
- Build and continuously improve the company's internal product knowledge base, ensuring information is accurate, up to date, and easily accessible
- Manage product documentation including Certificates of Analysis, specifications, stability and shelf-life data, supplier documentation, claims substantiation, and compliance records
- Support product launches by coordinating information and timelines across suppliers, manufacturers, regulatory consultants, design teams, and internal stakeholders
- Assist with product development projects and ensure key milestones are delivered on time
- Review product copy, marketing materials, packaging, and website content for compliance with UK, EU, and US pet food and feed regulations
- Help ensure product claims comply with relevant regulations, including avoiding medicinal claims and meeting UK, EU, AAFCO, FDA, and advertising requirements
- Support external audits, certifications, and industry accreditations including NASC, GMP, retailer compliance programmes, and other quality initiatives
- Coordinate documentation requests from retailers, distributors, marketplaces (e.g. Amazon, Chewy), and regulatory bodies
- Track regulatory developments across the UK, EU, and US and communicate relevant changes to the wider business
- Act as a central point of contact for product-related information across the business
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience in a Product Specialist, Product Coordinator, Product Development, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, Compliance, or similar role within pet supplements, pet food, animal health, nutrition, or consumer goods
- Hands-on experience with supplement or pet food formulation, ideally including palatability or flavour/texture development
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Experience managing technical documentation and maintaining structured databases
- Understanding of UK and EU feed and pet food regulations, US pet supplement requirements (AAFCO, FDA, NASC), claims legislation, and advertising compliance requirements
- Comfortable coordinating multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to interpret technical information clearly
- Confident working independently while managing competing priorities
- Proficiency with Excel, Google Sheets, and documentation management systems
- A proactive mindset with a desire to improve processes and create structure
- BonusExperience within pet supplements, pet food, animal health, or FMCG industries
- Experience running palatability trials or working with pet food testing facilities
- Experience supporting audits, certifications, or retailer compliance requirements
- Knowledge of NASC, GMP, HACCP, BRCGS, FEMAS, or similar quality standards
- Experience working with manufacturers, laboratories, ingredient suppliers, veterinary nutritionists, or regulatory consultants
- Degree or qualification in Animal Nutrition, Animal Science, Veterinary Science, Food Science, Regulatory Affairs, Life Sciences, or a related field
- A dog lover (bonus points if your pup is happy to be our taste tester!)
