Job Description:
Are you a fast, focused cook who thrives on the griddle during a bustling morning rush? We are seeking a dependable Short Order Line Cook to lead our morning breakfast line. In this role, you will prepare high-quality breakfast staples—crispy bacon, sizzling sausage, golden hashbrowns, and made-to-order eggs and omelets—with speed, precision, and consistency. If you excel in a fast-paced kitchen environment and take pride in executing clean, timely plates, we want you on our team.
Key Responsibilities:
Breakfast Preparation: Prepare made-to-order breakfast items including eggs (any style), custom omelets, bacon, sausage, pancakes, French toast, and sides. Line Execution: Manage high-volume short-order tickets quickly and accurately while keeping cook times low during peak morning rushes. Quality & Portion Control: Maintain consistent food quality, temperature, presentation, and portion standards on every plate. Station Prep & Setup: Stock griddles, fryers, refrigeration units, and prep stations prior to opening and maintain stock throughout the shift. Food Safety & Cleanliness: Follow all health code regulations, maintain a clean and sanitized cook line, and uphold safe food handling procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
Short Order / Breakfast Experience: Proven experience cooking breakfast items in a high-volume diner, restaurant, or short-order line environment. Griddle Proficiency: Mastery of egg cookery (scrambled, over-easy, poached, omelets) and timing griddle/flat-top items simultaneously. Speed & Stamina: Ability to work quickly, prioritize multiple tickets under pressure, and maintain focus in a fast-paced kitchen. Reliability: Punctual and dependable for early morning shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:
Serv Safe Food Handler certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).Familiarity with kitchen prep and line closing procedures.
Physical Demands:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work continuously over a hot griddle/flat-top for the duration of a shift. Ability to safely lift, move, and carry food cases and kitchen equipment weighing up to 30–50 lbs.
