Unit HelperThe Unit Helper works under the direction of the unit manager or charge nurse. Shifts are 7am - 1pm and 3pm - 7pm daily. This position involves performing the duties such as: Makes unoccupied beds Turns down and gets pads for unoccupied beds Straightens out resident rooms to meet environmental standards. Passes fresh water in carafes. Pours ice water prior to meals. Transports residents to Activities, Dining Room, Podiatrist, Dentist, etc. Passes and prepares meal trays Records Intake & Output (I&O) and percent of meal consumed Answers call bells as directed Provides a safe, pleasant and clean environment for the residents at mealtime Cleans and washes wheelchairs as directed This job classification will involve occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. Involves considerable walking, bending, standing, reaching, kneeling and mild lifting.
