Job description
Overview:
Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Administrator in Training specializing in Occupational Therapy (OT), Physical Therapy (PT), and Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) programs. This paid internship offers a unique opportunity to develop essential management skills while gaining hands‐on experience in healthcare administration, practice management, and clinical operations. You will support the smooth functioning of healthcare practices by assisting with office management, team supervision, and compliance with healthcare regulations. This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to grow into leadership positions within a fast‐paced medical environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in overseeing daily clinic operations, including patient flow, scheduling, and administrative workflows
- Support medical office management tasks such as billing, coding, and medical records organization using EMR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft and Dentrix
- Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure compliance with HIPAA, JCAHO standards, and health regulation policies
- Contribute to human resources functions by helping manage staffing schedules, onboarding new team members, and supporting staff development
- Help monitor practice financials through budgeting, fiscal management, and medical billing processes
- Facilitate effective communication across teams by managing managerial communication channels and providing excellent customer service to patients and providers
- Support healthcare administrative functions including patient management software, electronic health records (EHR), and medical administrative support tasks
- ExperienceStrong interest or background in healthcare management, office administration, or related fields such as nursing or dental office experience
- Prior experience with EMR/EHR systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Demonstrated supervisory or team management experience within a healthcare setting is advantageous
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and health regulation policies is highly desirable
- Excellent organizational skills combined with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Effective communication skills for managing teams and providing exceptional customer service
- Knowledge of managed care, utilization management, HIPAA compliance, and medical billing practices will strengthen your application
