About the role

Overview: In this role, you will deliver outstanding customer service and create a welcoming store environment. You'll process transactions efficiently, operate the POS system, and uphold safety and integrity standards. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate pricing, policy adherence, and a positive shopping experience. This position offers meaningful impact in daily store operations and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
  • Greet and assist customers actively and maintain visibility on the floor
  • Process transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane
  • Operate POS system and handle multiple tender types per policy (cash, checks, credit/debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, coupons, etc.)Monitor cash handling within company limits and contribute to loss prevention
  • Ensure compliance with restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs)
  • Report pricing discrepancies and follow policies for stamps, gift cards, and coupons
  • Stay current with ads and promotions; uphold food safety regulations
  • Reinforce safety programs and identify unsafe conditions to management
  • Perform preventive maintenance and report equipment issues
  • Provide product information to create a welcoming environment for customers
  • Adhere to local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines
  • Work effectively in a high-paced environment and manage conflicts calmly
  • Act with honesty and integrity in handling customer and business information
  • Follow directions and seek help to resolve customer and business issues
  • Support vulnerable customers (minors, individuals with special needs, older adults)
  • Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
Key requirements:
  • Customer service experience
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, subtraction)
  • Prior experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk (preferred)customer-focused mindsetconflict resolutionability to work in a fast-paced environmentPOS system proficiencycash handling and multiple tender typescompliance with pricing, coupons, and loyalty offers
