Linux Systems Administrator – Active Top Secret Clearance
Location: Springfield, VA – 100% Onsite
Salary: Up to $160,000 Base + Bonus

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to support and maintain mission-critical infrastructure within a secure federal government environment. This position is ideal for a technically strong Linux professional who enjoys hands-on systems administration, troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues, and ensuring the reliability, security, and performance of enterprise Linux environments. The successful candidate will have extensive experience administering Linux systems in production environments, resolving escalated technical issues, and supporting infrastructure operations where security, uptime, and system stability are essential. This is a fully onsite position in Springfield, VA, requiring an active Top Secret security clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot enterprise Linux servers and infrastructure in secure production environments.
Support Linux distributions including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Ubuntu, or similar platforms.
Monitor system performance, availability, resource utilization, and overall infrastructure health.
Diagnose and resolve complex Linux operating system, networking, storage, and application-related issues.
Handle escalated technical incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.
Manage system patching, updates, security configurations, and vulnerability remediation in accordance with federal security requirements.
Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages to improve operational efficiency.
Support system deployments, configuration management, and infrastructure improvements.
Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams to maintain secure and reliable systems.
Maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and system configuration records.
Required Qualifications:
Active Top Secret security clearance is mandatory.
Strong professional experience administering Linux systems in enterprise or production environments.
Extensive hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) or comparable Linux distributions.
Strong troubleshooting skills across operating systems, servers, storage, and networking.
Experience managing system security, user permissions, patching, and vulnerability remediation.
Proficiency in Linux command-line administration and shell scripting.
Experience supporting business-critical or mission-critical infrastructure.
Understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, SSH, firewalls, and related protocols.
Ability to work independently, prioritize technical issues, and resolve complex problems in demanding environments.
Ability to work onsite in Springfield, VA, five days per week.
Preferred Technical Experience:
Automation and configuration management using Ansible, Puppet, Chef, or Terraform.
Experience with DevOps methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, or infrastructure automation.
Virtualization technologies such as VMware or KVM.Containerization technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
Experience supporting classified government systems or DoD environments.
Familiarity with DISA STIGs, system hardening, and federal cybersecurity compliance standards.
Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, Nagios, Grafana, or similar platforms.
CompTIA Security+, RHCSA, RHCE, or other relevant technical certifications.
Compensation & Benefits
Base Salary: Up to $160,000 annually
