About Us: MP Consulting (MPC) is a product engineering and development consultancy based in Palatine, IL. We have 130+ engineers worldwide and a growing team in Chicagoland. We help clients take products from concept through manufacturing in industrial automation, medical devices, automotive, building automation and related industries. Our manufacturing arm, A Making Company (AMC), lets our engineers see their designs go from schematic to production.
The Role: We’re looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our Chicagoland team. You’ll work on real client products from day one, alongside senior engineers who will mentor you. Each project is different, so you’ll get broad hands-on experience faster than you would at most companies.
What You’ll Do:
  • Design and capture schematics for analog, digital and mixed-signal circuits
  • Lay out PCBs and work with fabrication and assembly vendors
  • Bring up, debug and validate prototype hardware in the lab with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power supplies and DMMsHelp with component selection, BOMs and design-for-manufacturability reviews
  • Write test plans and reports and support compliance work (EMC, safety)
  • Work with firmware, mechanical and manufacturing engineers on cross-functional teams
  • Take part in design reviews and, as you grow, talk with clients about your work
What We’re Looking For:
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field (recent and upcoming graduates are encouraged to apply)A solid grasp of circuit fundamentals, electronics and basic power design
  • Experience with a schematic/PCB tool such as Altium, KiCad, OrCAD or Eagle, from coursework, internships, senior design or personal projects
  • Comfort with lab equipment and hands-on debugging
  • Curiosity, a habit of taking ownership and clear communication
Nice to Have:
  • Internship or co-op experience in hardware design
  • Microcontroller experience (ARM, PIC, ESP32 and similar) or basic C/C++Familiarity with sensors, motor control, power electronics or communication interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN)A portfolio of projects: senior design, robotics teams, hackathons or personal builds
