About the role

Job Description: Job DescriptionBerk International is looking for an experienced General Maintenance Mechanic to keep our Boyertown facility and production equipment running. This is a hands-on role for a skilled tradesperson who can handle building upkeep and repairs one day and troubleshoot production machinery the next. We're looking for someone who has spent their career in maintenance and is comfortable working across trades without close supervision. This position requires at least 10 years of professional maintenance experience. Candidates must have worked as maintenance or facilities technicians, mechanics, or in a related skilled trade in an industrial, manufacturing, commercial, or facilities setting. Personal, home, or hobby experience does not qualify.
What You'll Do:
  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs, including carpentry, framing, drywall, painting, flooring, doors, and fixtures
  • Complete small construction and renovation projects within the facility
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic problems on production machinery
  • Carry out preventive maintenance on equipment and facility systems
  • Handle basic plumbing, electrical, and HVAC repairs, and know when a job calls for an outside contractor
  • Fabricate, modify, or repair parts and components as needed
  • Read and work from manuals, schematics, and blueprints
  • Keep accurate records of work performed and parts used
  • Work closely with production staff to minimize downtime
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout
What You Need 10+ years of professional maintenance experience, with a work history that shows itWell-rounded skills across building maintenance and machinery repair. We need someone who can do both, not one or the other. Working knowledge of mechanical systems, basic electrical, hydraulics, and pneumatics Experience with hand tools, power tools, and standard shop equipment Ability to troubleshoot problems on your own and work independently Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in tight or elevated spaces High school diploma or equivalent
Nice to Have:
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Welding or fabrication skills
  • Trade certifications or vocational training (HVAC, electrical, millwright, etc.)
