About the role

Sr. Advanced E-CAD Specialist (Remote | Possible 2nd Shift)We are actively seeking a Sr. Advanced E-CAD Specialist to support cutting-edge defense and national security programs. This is a fully remote role with the potential for 2nd shift coverage, offering the opportunity to work on advanced electronic systems that directly impact mission success.
About the Role: As a Sr. Advanced E-CAD Specialist, you will be responsible for designing and developing high-reliability printed circuit boards (PCBs) for complex electronic systems. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to take designs from concept through manufacturing, ensuring compliance with rigorous military standards. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced engineering environment and has deep expertise in Class III military design and PCB development.
Key Responsibilities: Candidate will be responsible for working with Program Management, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Component Engineering to complete printed wiring board designs. Candidate should have advanced understanding of industry standards for printed wiring board design and circuit card assembly to include IPC, J-STD, Mil-Spec, ASME, ESD, UL, and RoHS. Candidate should also have knowledge of bare board fabrication and circuit card assembly processes, materials, and tolerances. Candidate should have good understanding of electronic components physical and electrical characteristics, and thorough knowledge of layout circuit design topologies to include mixed signal, analog, digital, high speed, RF, linear and switching power supplies, high voltage, high current, and all varieties of communications and busses (Ethernet, PCI, VPX, DDR, RS485, SATA, USB, I2C, etc.).Candidate should be proficient with Cadence Capture CIS and Allegro, Altium, Xpedition, Gerber, ODB++, CAM350, Valor, Polar Si 9000, Zplanner, AutoCAD, eDrawings, Solid Works, MS Teams, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, Adobe, and Windchill. Primary responsibilities include schematic capture, layout design, schematic and layout constraints management, netlist and debug, annotation, layout post-processing, import and exporting of circuit card assembly documentation, schematic symbol creation and verification, footprint design and verification, padstack design, stack-up design, impedance and transmission line modeling, design rules check, error generation and resolution, exporting detailed design reports. Candidate should be able to design to industry standards, follow internal design procedures and process requirements, troubleshoot and resolve design conflicts, provide design solutions, be observant for errors, be efficient and detail oriented, and have good technical communication skills. Duties also include handling expedited design requests, working several designs concurrently, daily reporting of design status, daily posting of designs files to server repository, frequent communications with design team, frequent hosting of screen share design review meetings, attending formal layout design reviews, completing design checklists, following layout lead technical direction, providing design data and files release as needed to meet schedule. Work will include and focus on converting legacy Schematic data from PDFs into Capture CIS native design files, converting legacy layout data from Gerbers or PDFs into Allegro native design files, Creating schematic symbols, PCB footprints and custom padstacks. Work will also include netlisting new schematics into the new layouts and verifying accuracy and match to legacy data. Work may require 2nd shift work hours and may include sharing design work with other PWB designers. Required Experience & Skills Strong experience with Cadence Allegro / SPB 22.1 Proven background in Class III military PCB design Deep understanding of PCB design lifecycle (schematic capture → layout → manufacturing)Experience generating Gerber files and fabrication documentation Knowledge of signal integrity, high-speed design, and EMI/EMC considerations Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting defense or aerospace programs Familiarity with multi-layer, high-density PCB designs Ideally with 10 or more years in Class III military design Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams in regulated environments Work Schedule Remote position Potential for 2nd shift schedule depending on program needs
