Senior Visual Designer

Overview In this role you will own and continuously refine Grindr’s core design system, aligning components, tokens, and patterns with product needs. You’ll partner with product designers and engineers to drive adoption and ensure a coherent user experience. You’ll elevate visual craft within the system while maintaining lean, fast-moving delivery. You will also lead and accelerate AI-driven design system initiatives. Compensation / Benefits Health, Dental & Vision full premium coverage Fertility and family-building support up to $300,000401(k) with 6% match and immediate vesting Equity for every employee Gender-affirming care with significant coverage Flexible vacation policy and company-wide rest weeks Responsibilities Own the development, documentation, and ongoing refinement of Grindr's core design system, including components, tokens, patterns, and usage guidelines Partner with product designers and engineers to ensure consistent adoption and evolution of the system Identify and resolve design inconsistencies across the core app to improve coherence and efficiency Contribute strong visual design craft to raise overall product quality beyond structural rigor Operate autonomously in a lean environment, prioritizing effectively and moving fast without accumulating debt Lead the integration of the design system with AI tools Key requirements 5+ years of product or visual design experience 2-3 years focused design systems ownership—building or significantly evolving a system Experience building or maintaining systems in smaller or mid-size companies with limited resources Strong visual design skills (typography, color, iconography, spacing, motion) with a portfolio showing craft and systems thinking Proficiency in Figma with component architecture, variables, auto layout, and design token management Track record partnering with engineers to implement design systems in code and across design-to-development handoff Experience documenting systems for audiences with varying design fluencyAI-native mindset and willingness to adopt AI toolsownership and decision-making ability in a lean settingcare for both system quality and its outputs Figma proficiency including components, variables, auto layout, design tokensdesign system documentation and governancedesign-to-development handoff
