Role Description: Hum Capital is seeking an experienced lending and financial origination professional to source, qualify, and develop financing opportunities with established businesses seeking non-dilutive capital. This role is designed for someone with experience in regional or commercial banking, direct lending, private credit, alternative lending, investment banking, specialty finance, or a similar financial origination environment. The ideal candidate understands how to evaluate a company's financing needs, engage credibly with CEOs and CFOs, assess financial information, and identify opportunities that fit a lender's credit appetite. You will build relationships directly with business owners and executives as well as referral partners, including brokers, advisors, bankers, and other financial intermediaries. You will own opportunities from initial engagement and qualification through handoff and collaboration with Hum's investment and deal teams. This is not a traditional SaaS or generalist sales role. Success requires a working understanding of lending, credit, financial statements, and the financing needs of private companies.
What You'll Do: Originate and Qualify Lending Opportunities• Source and develop financing opportunities with established private companies seeking non-dilutive capital• Engage directly with CEOs, CFOs, founders, and other senior executives to understand their capital needs, business performance, and financing objectives• Conduct substantive discovery conversations covering revenue, profitability, growth, existing debt, capital structure, use of proceeds, and financing requirements• Review company financial information and identify opportunities that align with Hum's lending and investment criteria• Understand borrower needs and position appropriate direct lending and other financing solutions• Work closely with Hum's investment and deal teams to advance qualified opportunities through the financing process Build and Manage Referral Relationships• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers, bankers, financial advisors, M&A professionals, consultants, and other intermediaries who can generate qualified deal flow• Build a network of referral partners across Hum's target markets• Educate referral partners on Hum's lending criteria, financing solutions, and ideal borrower profile• Identify opportunities to expand productive referral relationships and generate repeat deal flow• Partner internally to structure and execute referral relationships where appropriate Manage Inbound and Outbound Deal Flow• Serve as a primary point of contact for companies seeking capital• Rapidly assess inbound opportunities to determine credit and financing fit• Conduct targeted outbound origination to identify prospective borrowers and referral sources• Maintain an active pipeline of qualified financing opportunities across industries and geographies• Accurately manage deal activity, borrower information, follow-up, and pipeline progression in Salesforce• Maintain disciplined and timely follow-up throughout the origination process Deliver a Best-in-Class Borrower Experience• Build credibility with executives by understanding their businesses and financing objectives• Act as a knowledgeable resource throughout the early stages of the financing process• Set appropriate expectations around financing structures, process, documentation, and next steps• Ensure a professional, responsive experience for borrowers and referral partners• Coordinate effectively with underwriting, investment, and deal teams as opportunities progress Who You Are• 3+ years of relevant experience in lending, financial origination, or capital markets, ideally within regional or commercial banking, direct lending, private credit, alternative lending, specialty finance, investment banking, or a comparable financial institution• Demonstrated experience originating, evaluating, or supporting debt financing transactions• Experience working directly with business owners, CEOs, CFOs, or other senior financial decision-makers• Working knowledge of commercial credit and lending fundamentals• Ability to understand and discuss financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements• Comfortable discussing revenue, EBITDA, leverage, debt capacity, use of proceeds, and other fundamental credit considerations• Ability to assess a financing opportunity and communicate its merits to investment and credit professionals• Strong understanding of how businesses evaluate and use debt capital• Excellent verbal and written communication skills• Highly driven, responsive, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced origination environment• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and generate deal flow Candidates whose experience is primarily general SaaS, technology, or non-financial sales without meaningful lending, credit, banking, or financial origination experience are unlikely to be a fit for this role.
