A&M’s Private Equity Performance Improvement Services (PEPI) practice serves upper middle‑market and large‑cap private equity firms and helps improve operating results at their portfolio companies. Clients typically range from $50 million to over $1 billion. As a Senior Director you will lead complex client engagements that identify, design, and implement creative business and technology solutions for private equity clients and their portfolio companies. Key responsibilities include: Lead pre‑acquisition IT diligence across systems, infrastructure, architecture, development lifecycle, budgeting, and organizational assessment. Manage interim IT operations and oversee Day‑1 and 100‑day planning, ensuring performance improvement in ERP, back‑office, supply chain, BI/reporting, and customer/channel management. Ensure high‑quality deliverables and maintain strong relationships with teams and stakeholders. Co‑coach and develop staff, participate in recruitment and retention activities, and provide leadership support to delivery teams.
Qualifications:
15+ years of professional consulting or relevant industry experience, with at least five years in systems implementations, merger integration, business transformation, and change management.
Extensive experience with private‑equity sponsors, portfolio companies, and transaction or merger integration projects.
Deep functional expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Private equity advisoryIT merger integration and carve‑out
- Business/IT transformation program or project management (e.g., ERP)
- Supply‑chain and/or finance/accounting transformationIT operations
- Solution architecture
- Enterprise architecture and infrastructureIT assessment and strategy developmentIT performance improvement and cost reduction
Demonstrated track record working with C‑suite executives and private‑equity deal and operating partners.
Excellent fact‑gathering and analytical skills, including business process mapping and quantitative analysis.
Experience designing and leading change/communications strategy for internal and external audiences.
Prior strategy and change‑management experience; advisory background from a top‑tier strategy firm, leading specialist firm, or Big‑4 consultancy.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Ability to travel up to 75 % of the time.

Benefits Summary:
Full‑time and part‑time positions (30+ hours/week) are entitled to healthcare plans, flexible spending and savings accounts, life, AD&D, and disability coverages, as well as a 401(k) retirement plan with discretionary employer matching. Paid time off includes vacation, personal days, 72 hours of sick time (prorated for part‑time), ten federal holidays, one floating holiday, and parental leave.
Salary range:
$175,000 – $250,000 annually plus discretionary bonus program based on individual and firm performance. Alvarez & Marsal does not require or administer a lie detector test under any circumstances and strongly encourages compliance with all applicable employment laws.
