About the role
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, and maintain Java-based software solutions and capabilities. Apply modern Java frameworks and libraries to develop scalable, reliable software solutions. Design and develop enterprise APIs, RESTful web services, and microservices-based applications. Build, maintain, and support Kubernetes deployments using tools such as Helm and Flux. Troubleshoot complex technical issues and develop effective solutions in a fast-paced environment. Maintain strong testing practices and contribute to the quality, reliability, and performance of software solutions. Stay current with emerging software development technologies, tools, and industry practices. Seamlessly transition between hands-on development and technical leadership. Mentor and support fellow engineers while contributing to the overall growth and success of the team. Collaborate effectively with engineers, architects, customers, and other stakeholders. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Active U.S. Government Secret security clearance or higher is required at the time of hire. U.S. citizenship is required.9+ years of relevant Software Engineering experience, including experience with modern Java frameworks and libraries such as Spring and Guava, with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field; OR7+ years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree in a related field; ORHigh School Diploma or equivalent with 13+ years of relevant experience. Strong Java software development experience. Experience designing enterprise APIs and developing RESTful web services. Experience with microservices architecture. Experience building and maintaining Kubernetes deploymentsusing tools such as Helm and Flux. Experience working within the Agile software development lifecycle. Experience with the Linux operating system. Experience with configuration management and development tools such as Git, Nexus, and Maven. Demonstrated experience serving as a technical lead, mentor, or managerfor engineering teams. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Proven ability to learn quickly and work effectively both independently and collaboratively. Ability to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of two days per week in the San Antonio office. Flexibility is required to accommodate changes in customer or team schedules as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS or Azure. Experience designing and developing custom Kubernetes tooling, including operators and custom CRDs. Experience with additional programming languages such as Go and Python. Experience developing automation using CI/CD tools such as Git Lab CI/CD pipelines. Experience with distributed databases, NoSQL databases, and full-text search technologies such as Elasticsearch, MongoDB, or Solr. Scripting and automation experience. Previous experience with or familiarity with Big Data Platforms. Strong understanding of Agile software development methodologies and common development and collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and Git Hub Enterprise.
