Through campus clubs, chaplaincy programs, community service projects, and sexual risk avoidance education, UYC empowers students to lead with purpose, build healthy relationships, and discover their God-given potential. UYC is a coalition of over 100 church partners supporting student-led faith clubs and motivational assemblies at over 100 middle and high school campuses, with active ministry presence in San Diego (CA), Spokane (WA), Greater Sacramento (CA), Columbia (SC), Atlanta (GA), Tijuana (MX), and Addis Ababa (ET) — and emerging locations worldwide. What began as one youth pastor's conviction that public schools are the last place in American culture where nearly every young person still gathers has grown into a movement across multiple cities and countries, built on the belief that God wants his kids back.
About the Role:
UYC is seeking a Director of Field Ministries to coach, support, and hold accountable City Directors across UYC's domestic city network. This is a remote, multi-site leadership role — it carries no single-city assignment, facility, or grant portfolio, and is distinct from any individual City Director position, including Atlanta. Coaching Scope -- You Will Shepherd UYC City Leaders In:- Greater Sacramento, CA- San Diego, CA- Spokane, WA- Columbia, SC- Atlanta, GA- Tijuana, MexicoUYC's international sites — Lima, Peru and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia — are currently coached directly by the CEO and will transition to a future International Programs Director. This role's coaching scope is domestic and border-adjacent.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coach, support, and hold City Directors accountable across six domestic/border sites- Model and reinforce UYC's ministry philosophy, doctrinal foundations, and fundraising culture network-wide- Travel occasionally within the U.S. (and to Tijuana, Mexico) to provide in-person coaching, training, and troubleshooting- Partner with the CEO and COO on strategy for domestic network growth, staff development, and program consistency- This is a UYC National C-Suite position- Support City Directors in donor engagement and personal support-raising practices- Identify emerging leadership needs and support succession planning across the domestic network- Contribute to field-staff compensation, onboarding, and performance standards
Qualifications:
Significant urban and cross-cultural ministry experience, senior-leader tier Proven track record coaching or supervising ministry staff across multiple locations Strong personal alignment with UYC's doctrinal foundations Demonstrated ability to raise personal financial support and inspire others to do the same Willingness and ability to travel regularly within the U.S. and to Tijuana Comfortable operating in a fully remote, multi-city leadership structure Compensation & Support Model: This is a fully support-raised position with a target compensation range of $111,000–$125,000, matching UYC's COO compensation band. Candidates should have — or be willing to build — a strong personal donor base to sustain this role. More Than A Job -- A Calling from God: We're looking for a passionate, entrepreneurial ministry leader to serve City Directors, building and expanding UYC's ministry presence in the US. Much like a coach who equips others to play the game rather than stepping onto the field themselves, your greatest impact will come through developing student leaders and future team members who carry the ministry forward in their own schools and communities. Position Details:- At least 7 years of full-time, paid ministry experience, preferably including urban youth ministry, school ministry, or church-partner ministry.- A proven personal fundraising track record or a donor network willing to support this new calling — this is a fully support-raised position, and the ability and willingness to raise 100% of your own salary and ministry expenses is required.- Staff supervision and volunteer recruitment experience is a plus, especially experience helping others build their own fundraising base.- Existing relationships with churches, schools, funders, and ministry organizations are a strong asset, including potential connections to UYC's existing Project 25 Southeast network.- Full agreement with UYC's Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Commitments (available upon request during the interview process).- Willingness to complete a standard background check (criminal history, driving record, and credit), consistent with UYC's hiring practices. Why This Role: If you've dreamed of growing a ministry to reach the youth of our nation — establishing the relationships, KPIs, and team that will shape how a whole generation of students encounter Jesus — this is that opportunity. You're building on real momentum and get to help write the next chapter of UYC's story in the US, reaching students at the place they spend most of their time: public school campuses.
