Senior Geotechnical Engineer / Senior Engineering Geologist We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer / Senior Engineering Geologist to join a growing geotechnical team in Portland, Oregon. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior-level professional who enjoys a combination of technical engineering, field investigation, project management, client interaction, and team leadership. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects throughout the Pacific Northwest and will have the opportunity to help grow the geotechnical practice.
Key Responsibilities: Plan and perform geotechnical subsurface field investigations and site explorations. Prepare and maintain accurate daily field reports and technical documentation. Plan and coordinate laboratory testing of soil and rock materials. Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and develop practical design recommendations. Evaluate and provide recommendations for foundations, slope stability, retaining wall systems, and other geotechnical conditions. Prepare comprehensive geotechnical engineering reports, calculations, and project deliverables. Perform special inspections and provide geotechnical support during construction. Review field conditions and provide engineering recommendations as needed. Manage multiple geotechnical projects from investigation through final deliverables. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders. Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and professional development support to junior staff. Work closely with company leadership on project planning, technical quality, and continued growth of the geotechnical practice.
Qualifications: 10+ years of professional geotechnical engineering experience; senior-level experience strongly preferred. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Professional engineering/geotechnical credentials such as PE, GE, or CEG.Strong experience with geotechnical field investigations and subsurface exploration. Demonstrated knowledge of geotechnical analysis and design. Experience with foundations, slope stability, retaining walls, and related geotechnical systems. Strong technical report writing and analytical skills. Ability to independently manage projects and interact directly with clients. Previous experience supervising, mentoring, or developing junior-level engineering staff. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
