BACA CNC Operator

What You’ll Do: Set up and operate the BACA Saw Jet. Review work orders, shop drawings, dimensions, and cutting files before starting each job. Plan accurate, efficient cuts. Verify slab material, thickness, orientation, and layout to reduce waste and meet project requirements. Review cutting programs and adjust approved machine settings as needed. Handle materials safely. Load, position, and unload slabs and cut pieces using approved lifting equipment and handling procedures. Check quality throughout production. Inspect dimensions, cutouts, and cut quality; identify defects early; and label and stage completed pieces for the next operation. Keep equipment production-ready. Perform routine operator maintenance, cleaning, and consumable checks. Troubleshoot basic issues and promptly communicate problems requiring additional support. Support a safe, organized shop. Follow machine-guarding, dust-control, and personal protective equipment requirements, coordinate with the fabrication team, and assist with related production tasks.

What We’re Looking For: Experience operating CNC equipment, a bridge saw, waterjet, or similar fabrication machinery. Direct BACA Saw Jet and stone fabrication experience are strongly preferred. Ability to read shop drawings, verify measurements, and work accurately with fractions, decimals, and dimensional requirements. Mechanical aptitude and comfort using computer-based machine controls. Experience with cutting files, slab layouts, nesting, or BACA software is a plus. Dependability, attention to detail, clear communication, and a consistent commitment to safe work practices. This position involves working on the shop floor, standing and moving throughout the shift, and safely handling materials with appropriate equipment and assistance.
