K–12 School-Based Academic Tutor

City Year is seeking an Academic Tutor to support students’ academic and social-emotional growth in partner public schools. In this full-time role, you will provide small-group and one-on-one tutoring in core subjects, track student progress, and collaborate with teachers to align support with classroom instruction. You will serve as a mentor and positive role model, helping students build confidence, set goals, and develop effective learning habits. Provide one-on-one and small-group tutoring in core academic subjects Support teachers with classroom activities and learning interventions Mentor students to build social-emotional skills and confidence Monitor and track student attendance, engagement, and progress Collaborate with school staff and City Year teammates on support plans Assist with enrichment programs, after-school activities, and events Communicate with students, teachers, and families professionally Model positive behavior and reinforce school-wide expectations Participate in ongoing training, coaching, and professional development Contribute to an inclusive, equity-focused and collaborative team culture Academic tutoring in math and reading Lesson and activity planning support Progress monitoring and basic data tracking Classroom management support Youth mentoring and relationship-building Written and verbal communication Basic educational technology (e.g., Google Workspace) Time management and organization Cultural competence and equity-focused practice Collaboration within school-based teams Medical Insurance Dental Insurance Vision Insurance Life Insurance City Year AmeriCorps eligibility (U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident) Background check clearance Experience with tutoring or youth development (preferred) Bilingual skills (preferred)
