Electrical Commissioning Technician
Location: Fairfield, OH
Employment Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
Shifts: Day/Night/Weekend
Job Description: We are seeking an Electrical Commissioning Technician to support hands-on electrical testing and commissioning within a manufacturing environment. This position is ideal for someone with a strong electrical background who has experience with switchgear, UPS systems, breakers, panels, controls, or power distribution equipment and wants to grow deeper into electrical testing and commissioning. You will receive structured training before progressing into more advanced commissioning responsibilities.
Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of hands-on electrical experience
  • Experience with switchgear, UPS systems, or similar power distribution equipment
  • Strong understanding of electrical testing, troubleshooting, and safety
  • Hands-on experience with breakers, panels, controls, or electrical distribution systems
  • Comfortable working in an industrial or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to follow detailed electrical testing and commissioning procedures
Responsibilities:
  • Perform electrical testing and verification on switchgear, UPS systems, circuit breakers, busway, and control systems
  • Support point-to-point checks, insulation resistance/Megger testing, contact resistance testing, and breaker testing
  • Assist with equipment startup, commissioning, and functional performance testing
  • Support UPS startup, transfer testing, and load-bank testing
  • Troubleshoot electrical equipment and system issues
  • Perform electrical measurements and equipment inspections
  • Verify HMI, BMS, and control system functionality
  • Follow detailed testing, commissioning, and electrical safety procedures
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Electrical commissioning or testing experience
  • Switchgear commissioning/testing experienceUPS or critical power experience
  • Megger, point-to-point, contact resistance, or secondary injection testing experiencePLC, HMI, BMS, or controls experienceOSHA 10 or NFPA 70E training
  • Electrical degree, technical degree, trade school, or similar education
