Deputy Clerk Of CourtThe City of Stone Mountain is seeking a Deputy Clerk of Court. This position reports to the Clerk of Court and offers a salary range of $40,000-$52,000 annually for full-time employment. The deputy clerk plays an essential role in the legal sector, providing administrative support through various responsibilities. These duties include processing legal documents, managing court records, and delivering exceptional customer service to the public, judges, and attorneys. The role involves the preparation, processing, filing, and maintenance of legal documentation. Additionally, the deputy clerk attends court proceedings, meticulously recording and entering all courtroom findings to ensure the thorough completion of judicial processes. Essential responsibilities and duties include: Receiving and documenting all materials related to new and pending cases. Conducting thorough reviews of filings to verify proper service to all parties involved. Overseeing the indexing of records and ensuring the systematic filing of all documentation pertinent to court cases. Maintaining accurate records of court proceedings and the minutes of court sessions. Answering telephone inquiries and providing precise information to the public. Preparing and distributing standard form orders as required. Receiving and recording all monetary transactions associated with the payment of fines. Adhering to established policies and procedures for the handling of all court-related documents on a daily basis. Attending court sessions to ensure that all dispositions are accurately recorded and input all relevant information into court management software. Providing assistance to the Clerk of Court in fulfilling duties to ensure the efficient operation of court sessions.
Qualifications include:
  • One to two years of Georgia Municipal Court experience.
  • Experience providing customer service to the public in a professional office environment.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology.
  • Experience handling confidential, sensitive, or legally significant documents preferred.
  • Ability to accurately review, process, file, and maintain legal and court-related documents.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and enter information into computerized systems with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to handle monetary transactions and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with judges, attorneys, court personnel, defendants, law enforcement personnel, and members of the public with proper grammar and punctuation.
  • Ability to attend court proceedings and accurately document and enter case dispositions and other courtroom activity.
  • Education and experience requirements include:
  • An associate degree or higher in Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Training or coursework in legal procedures, or municipal government.
  • Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.
Skills include: Following established policies, procedures, and legal requirements. Maintaining confidentiality of court records and sensitive information. Working independently while also functioning effectively as part of a court team.
Requirements include: Primarily office-based with extended periods of sitting and computer use. Evening and weekend work may be required occasionally for special court processes.
