About the role

Job Title Point of contact for assisting APA pilots in the support and plan of action for psychological distress or mental health issues. Provides assessment, brief solution-focused counseling, referral and follow up services. Ability to differentiate between a situational and developmental crisis while promoting safety and emotional stability for a pilot or their family members in need. Researches, analyzes, and makes internal referrals to APA committees or departments and external referrals to counselors. Works closely with APA committees, APA Medical/STSAP Department, Benefits Department, and Legal Department regarding pilot mental health issues, and other offices dealing with related issues. Works across all departments and committees in order to support and provide resolution for pilots as they navigate psychological distress, as well as the process of returning to flying status. Fields calls and emails from APA pilots, ensuring an understanding of the issue or concern, and then implements an effective course of action to ensure a timely resolution.
