Machine Learning Engineer

Overview: Ad Astra is building a cloud-based software platform to support higher education and student completion. The Machine Learning (ML) Engineer operates as a key member of all phases of our Agile Software Development Lifecycle under limited direction. They design, develop, and implement software solutions with a focus on data science, collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into high-quality solutions and maintain long-term software quality through regular maintenance.

Responsibilities: Deliver high-quality software quickly Leverage data science knowledge to enhance our software solutions where appropriate Improve data science literacy by teaching others when opportunities arise Collaborate with product managers to plan and build solutions that provide value for our customers Conduct thorough testing of software to ensure reliability, security, and robustness, individually and with quality engineers Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues in existing software applications Maintain software quality with regular maintenance including bug fixes, dependency updates and keeping old solutions up to date with best practices Identify needs within the system that require attention or action and make iterative improvements in service of current work Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree, preferably with a Data Science major or emphasis (or equivalent experience) Typically, 2+ years relevant experience Excellent verbal and communication skills Exceptional time management skills Content to operate in a "pull" based system (rather than waiting to have work pushed to you)
